Life after lock down…

Life after lock down…

I last wrote to you all on the 1st March when I was looking forward to the start of the Antique Fair season and I signed off “…here’s wishing that we will be able to get out and enjoy the warmer weather with friends and family this spring”. Of course, I was blissfully unaware that just a few weeks later Coronavirus would totally put a stop to any such plans!

In the intervening 12 weeks, cut off from all but my immediate family and stuck indoors, alone, for long periods, my business has helped me maintain a link to the outside world and kept me going.  Settling into a routine of getting up early and spending a full morning working in my shop, I have enjoyed switching off  mid-afternoon to spend an hour or two reading, painting and even cooking, all things which I had let slip in busier times. The picture above is my attempt to capture a Rokeby Venus-style pose in just six minutes, when I participated in (from my settee) the ‘Life Drawing Live!’ programme on BBC 4.

Now we find ourselves, mid-June, taking tentative steps back to normality. Having almost depleted stock bought pre-lock down, I am keen to fossick out exciting new things to show you when shops and markets re-open. Also, having concentrated solely on UK sales due to disruption to overseas shipping, it seems likely that international markets will become accessible again soon, giving me a wider audience for my finds. So, if you have been watching an item or are looking for something particular and would like me to source it for you in the coming weeks, then do message me via the Contacts page.

It only remains to say a huge thank you to my customers, family and friends who have continued to support my business during lock down and here’s to better days ahead for all of us!
